Badge 01

AI Literacy

Help students understand what generative AI is, where it fails, how to use it ethically, and how to cite it. Built for any course, not only technical ones.

What's covered

  • 1The fundamentals. What AI is, what generative AI is, and how large language models work.
  • 2Using generative AI well. Real uses, prompt engineering, and an intro to "vibe coding": building by describing.
  • 3Ethics & limits. Bias, misinformation, fairness, AI and the environment, AI agents, and detection myths.
  • 4Using AI in your work. Fact-checking, citing AI, and a "Billion Bees" case study that ties it together.

What students can do after

  • Explain generative AI in plain language and describe some of its real limitations.

  • Write and refine prompts to get more useful, accurate results.

  • Recognize bias and misinformation and weigh the ethical trade-offs of AI tools.

  • Cite AI use appropriately and fact-check AI output against reliable sources.
